NewRange Copper Nickel Announces New Project-Wide Studies

St. Paul, Minn. (August 14, 2024) – Jobs for Minnesotans issued the following statement in response to NewRange Copper Nickel’s announcement of four new key studies that will take place over the next year aimed at enhancing environmental safeguards and project performance: 

“NewRange’s decision to embark on these comprehensive studies is a significant step forward and demonstrates a deep commitment to sustainability and responsible resource development. The studies, which will focus on critical areas such as tailing storage, water science, efficient production and carbon reduction, reflect New Range’s proactive approach to ensuring the NorthMet project meets the highest environmental and performance standards.” 

“Furthermore, Jobs for Minnesotans stands behind NewRange’s transparency and willingness to engage with key stakeholders. In fostering open discussion across Tribal Nations, local communities and more, NewRange is bringing the right project to the field – one that is committed to accountability, partnership and long-term development.” 

“By proactively assessing and implementing new technologies, NewRange is positioning Minnesota as a leader in clean energy mineral development while minimizing environmental impacts. Jobs for Minnesotans will continue to support NewRange’s NorthMet project and other initiatives that prioritize transparency, stakeholder engagement, and adherence to rigorous environmental standards.”
