PolyMet Mining Corporation is developing a copper, nickel and precious metals mine in northeastern Minnesota, known as the NorthMet Project. The NorthMet Project is currently in the permitting process and once operational will create approximately 360 jobs paying annual wages and benefits of nearly $36 million. Twin Metals Minnesota is a Minnesota mining company pursuing the development of a copper, nickel and platinum group metals mine in northeastern Minnesota and to date has invested more than $450 million in project development activities. Twin Metals submitted a formal Mine Plan of Operation to state and federal regulatory agencies in December 2019, initiating an extensive environmental review process.
