Copper-nickel mining and energy transportation projects provide a tremendous opportunity for a prosperous future for generations of Minnesotans. Three companies in particular are already bringing much-needed investment to our state and have the potential to bring even greater economic impact in the years ahead.

  • Enbridge is a leader in the safe and reliable delivery of energy and has been active in Minnesota for more than 65 years. Enbridge’s proposed Line 3 Replacement Project will replace an existing oil pipeline that passes through Minnesota to maintain high safety standards, reduce future maintenance activities and restore the operating capabilities of this important energy artery. The Project will provide approximately 1,500 family-sustaining construction jobs in Minnesota and deliver a $1.2 billion boost to the U.S. economy during design and construction. Enbridge is also seeking authorization to transport 800,000 barrels per day on the existing three-mile segment of the Line 67 pipeline that crosses the U.S.-Canada border to help meet shipper demand. Keep an eye on all that Enbridge is doing in Minnesota and beyond by following them on Facebook and Twitter.
  • PolyMet Mining Corporation is developing a copper, nickel and precious metals mine in northeastern Minnesota, known as the NorthMet Project. PolyMet has completed a comprehensive environmental review lasting nearly ten years and has begun the permitting process. Once operational, the NorthMet Project will create approximately 360 jobs paying annual wages and benefits of nearly $36 million. Follow them the company on Twitter and Facebook to learn more about PolyMet’s daily activities.
